Angela Santana is a Swiss artist based in New York, recognized for her vibrant, large-scale oil paintings.

Her work critically examines the historical representation of the female body, drawing from classical poses in art history and exploring their enduring influence on contemporary culture.

Embracing the internet as a modern-day muse, Santana observes the rapid circulation and consumption of images online, interrogating the power structures and embedded biases that shape— and often distort—perception and collective consciousness.

Her experimental process departs from traditional methods, using the permanence of oil paint as a counterpoint to the ephemerality of digital imagery. Through deconstruction and reconfiguration, she pushes classical forms toward abstraction while challenging the status quo. Santana is also expanding her practice to include etchings on paper.

Her work has been widely featured in international press and exhibited across Europe, the United States, and Asia, including presentations alongside masters such as Pablo Picasso, Auguste Rodin, and Henry Taylor.

Santana’s work is held in notable private and public museum collections.
