Minimal gallery is delighted to present gato hanseN’s first exhibit in new york CITY.
Sparkles is the result of months of experimentation with new materials and techniques, pushing the traditional boundaries of each medium and inviting reflection and dialogue. The show invites audiences to dive into Hansen’s creative universe, where themes such as identity, anxiety, nostalgia, and the human condition are expressed through vibrant forms and colors.
Originally from Valencia, Spain, Gato Hansen is a multidisciplinary artist known for his ability to merge various artistic practices including painting, drawing, ceramics, and tattooing. A self-taught creator, his roots in graffiti and illustration have shaped a distinctive style that reflects a deep connection with surrealism, expressionism, and at times abstraction—infused with influences from comics and cartoons, always approached from a contemporary and sensitive perspective.
Throughout his career, Hansen has participated in numerous exhibitions, consistently demonstrating his ability to capture the essence of everyday life through a more dreamlike, singular, and often sharp lens, transforming his works into a thoughtful dialogue between reality and pure imagination.
His passion for art also extends into the realm of tattooing, where he is recognized for his innovative and personalized designs. In his painting and ceramic work, the artist explores themes such as temporality, identity, nature, the cosmos, and the absurd—using a vibrant color palette and mixed techniques that bring texture and depth to his creations. His body of work stands as a testament to his versatility and dedication to artistic expression in all its forms.
