BE DRUNK, 2021
Painting animation on CRT tv, 2 min loop.
Be Drunk is a 2-minute stop-motion painting animation inspired by viral videos of young drunk teenagers and animals acting erratically. Bitrán loops these animations on a CRT TV to evoke a sense of entrapment, the monitor acting as a physical cage in which these chaotic characters fall and fail again and again. Key frames and underpaintings clash and abstract the images with visceral, urgent speed.
