Nil marqués brings his solo exhibition inevitable to minimal gallery

INEVITABLE brings together nineteen works that subtly explore one of the defining tensions of our time: the relentless advance of technology alongside the enduring presence of the natural world. Through his distinctive visual language, Nil Marqués examines the ways in which technology intervenes in nature, while also revealing how nature persists, adapts, and ultimately continues to shape the conditions of our existence.

Within this dialogue, two forces coexist—not as opposites, but as interdependent realities. On one side lies technological progress, with its power to transform our environment and redefine human experience. On the other are the fundamental elements—earth, air, fire, and water—which serve as a reminder that every innovation remains rooted in forces far older than itself. Without nature, there can be no progress.

Marqués draws from a wide range of influences, including sci-fi, manga, the urban landscapes of cities such as New York, the aesthetic sensibility of Japan, and close observation of the natural world. From this convergence emerges a visual universe that moves between the real and the speculative, the familiar and the imagined, the present and a future yet to be defined.

More than a reflection on the present moment, INEVITABLE projects possible futures. The exhibition invites viewers to consider a world that does not yet exist, but whose outlines are already beginning to take shape. It acknowledges that certain processes cannot be halted, yet they can be understood, questioned, and guided.

Featured Work

In 2026, Marqués presents INEVITABLE, a new body of work comprising nineteen paintings, premiering at Minimal Gallery in Brooklyn, New York. The exhibition reflects his ongoing interest in the relationship between nature and technology, exploring the tensions, connections, and coexistence between the organic and the artificial.
